Book Title: Curtains of Blood by Robert J. Randisi December 4, 2011
Part 1
REFLECT
The character of Bram Stoker in the novel was truly remarkable, however it did came to the point that Bram has to tolerate his obsession to chase his yearning. Perhaps, the utmost triumph that a writer like Bram Stoker may accomplish is to craft a book that will definitely arrest the attention and catch the interest of the reader.
Bram as a prominent novelist of his time wanted to write an extraordinary novel that would pave way to humans’ imagination to turn into reality. Bram wanted to prove that there was this existence of fictitious and whimsical being that only dwells somewhere in legends. Vampires were old widespread all over the world. Many stories were written down about this creature but nobody actually provided evidence to prove their existence. They were described as immortal that clings on human life to support their own survival. And so Bram concluded that Jack the Ripper was a vampire that sucks blood and disrupt human body to feed on the internal organs of this hapless human. Robert J. Randisi portrayed the devotion and determination of Bram to save his friend from being indicted of murder and cease a work that will heighten his career in the field of writing a novel.
CONNECT
Bram was indeed fascinating and brilliant on his field. His determination to prove something impossible is not just only an obsession that may take his life but has the purpose of saving his friend from a tough accusation.
Just like Bram, I am a person that will go through diverse portal of obstacles to seize my desire. But despite how desperate I am to get something I want, I always make sure that I hit and hurt no one. It may be an obsession people would call, but looking at it positively, it may be another way of attaining what you want beyond the call of giving in.
Meanwhile, in the novel Bram Stoker was showing care to his friend. He tried to rescue him from a crime he was never involved. It reminds me of how I am in all of my friends. I am this type of person that always hopes to see a friend in a safe circumstance. I wanted to see them safe and sound. Even if I do it by just saying “take care”, at least in these simple thoughtful words from me, perhaps it would make them think to take care of themselves.
QUESTION
What if the accusation to Henry Irving, Bram’s friend was true? What if Henry Irving murdered all of those ill fated women? Would Bram tolerate Henry Irving’s wrong doing? Or would he tell the police that his friend Henry Irving was the murderer they were all looking for? Why would a vampire who murders human would act so kind to Bram Stoker? Are they related to each other? I wonder if Bram Stoker reported to the police about Jack the Ripper visiting him for quite sometime, would Jack the Ripper kill Bram.
PREDICT
The story ended when Bram Stoker went on a vacation without knowing that it was the town where Jack the Ripper dwells. He found out where Jack lives and hurriedly went to see him. Bram stared at the two-story frame house and noticed a shadow. Maybe that was jack he was staring at. And if that was indeed Jack the Ripper, I think he would give Bram the information he needed to start his novel about him and his dark side.
Part II
Dear Mr. Robert J. Randisi:
On December 3, 2011, I finished your novel, your novel about a man struggling to come to an answer he can hardly find. I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed reading the novel. It was indeed fascinating.
As a student from the Southeast, I considered your portrayal of Bram Stoker and her problems to be very accurate and realistic. Bram’s descriptions of his personality made me think to do the same but also made me feel very sad for him because he has to deal with the consequences that almost ruin his relationship with her wife and friend. I also have this kind of attitude and sometimes it does seem as though there is “a ton of hell” going on in me and I can hardly understand this feeling of wanting something. I especially liked the part where Bram got his friend Mr. Henry Irving in trouble with his profession. I know for certain that Bram would help his friend and save him from the trouble he was never involve. He treated his very important and valuable. He never wanted to see his friend being indicted of wrong accusations.
I especially liked the language in the novel. Jack, the reaper’s grammar sounded funny though he was good in English grammar he tricked his enemy by writing a letter that has misspelled words and incorrect pattern of sentences. I also liked that he was good but pretending to be some kind of illiterate individual.
At first, I was wondering why you let Jack, the reaper let Bram Stoker know his identity? I thought that was going to be the major conflict. I like that this relationship of Jack to Bram was really not the issue. I thought that Jack, the reaper would kill Bram as well. Jack was also has a very forgiving and considerate character; he didn’t try to be mean to Bram Stoker as if there were friends for a long time.
Is it hard to make the characters in a book sound like real people? Bram Stoker and I have something in common and that is being eager to accomplish something no matter what it takes. How much time do you spend writing a book? Does anyone help you?
I really enjoyed reading your novel and I am looking forward to reading the book you have written. Thank you for taking me from another height of extraordinary experience.
Sincerely,
Denden A. Andang
